Building trust at the ballot box: Political Finance and Electoral reform in Albania
The conference will provide an opportunity to take stock of the work carried out under Phase II of the project in both Albania and Kosovo, while fostering open dialogue among policymakers, legislators, electoral authorities, civil society and international partners.
Beyond reviewing progress, discussions will look to the horizon, considering how Albania can modernise its political finance framework to strengthen democratic resilience and public trust. Debates will help set out recommendations and next steps for political finance and electoral reform on Albania’s EU path.
Finally, the event will also provide a platform for regional exchange, offering insights from Kosovo and Montenegro to enrich Albania’s reform agenda and stimulate a broader conversation on integrity and trust in electoral processes across the region. At the heart of the conference will be the presentation of preliminary findings from the Political Finance Assessment Study for Albania, which reviews the regulatory framework with a special focus on youth and underrepresented groups and their access to party and campaign financing. These findings will frame a discussion on barriers and opportunities for more inclusive political participation.
